It is the first modern collection of stories in French literature. In the hand of a single editor, it presents one hundred stories of very free inspiration, very Gallic in style, all of which are attacks on women and the religious; they are presented by thirty-six storytellers, all historical figures who were members of Philippe le Bon's court."
