Large polychrome thangka on canvas depicting the Wheel of Life or Becoming, samsara (succession of lives), centered on the "three poisons" symbolized by animals - rooster, snake and pig - around which characters evolve. The main part of the wheel is divided into six worlds corresponding to the six categories of samsaric beings: gods, titans or demigods, humans, animals, greedy spirits and the damned. The outer circle, divided into twelve sections, symbolizes the twelve factors that keep beings in samsara, in cycles that repeat indefinitely until liberation is achieved. The wheel is gripped by a monster, a sort of ferocious Mahakalla crowned with citipati heads, and surmounted by two equally symbolic figures.
(Wear, dirt, missing decoration).
