ARONDEAUX Robert (XVIIIth century) and MOLARD Michel (1641-1713), after Commemorative bronze medal, featuring on the obverse a bust of Louis XIV in armor draped in antique style and the inscription "Louis le Grand" in Latin, and on the reverse Neptune on a chariot drawn by sea horses symbolizing the mastery of the waters joined by allegories of the river, this scene symbolizing the completion of the Canal du Midi desired by Louis XIV and the inscription "Les mers réunies - Depuis les rivières jusqu'à la montagne de Seitan, le canal a été creusé à travers les terres, 1681" in Latin. Signed and dated 1967. (some scratches, rubbing, oxidation). Diameter: 7.2 cm
