ABB - Düsseldorf Enameled stoneware mustard pot, monogrammed ABB in blue, silver lid with lion and anchor, emblem of Düsseldorf. Marked ABB (Adam Bernhard Bergrath) with the anchor. German workmanship Total height 12.5 cm - Gross weight of lid: 26.29 g Note: In 1800, a partition agreement stipulated that Adam Bernhard Bergrath alone would take over his father's mustard business. Production was transferred to a house on Burgplatz. The mustard jars were marked with his monogram and the Düsseldorf anchor. In addition to mustard, sealing wax, paper, textile lace, feathers and other items were also sold in his store. Anecdote: A painting by Vincent Van Gogh in Amsterdam's Van Gogh Museum, entitled "Still life with bottles and ceramics" (1884), depicts a grey mustard pot bearing the initials ABB with the anchor symbol.
