Barometer thermometer in molded, carved and gilded wood, the - Lot 58
Barometer thermometer in molded, carved and gilded wood, the lower part features a painted dial marked "ANTE CARCANO à Paris, gde rue du Faubg. St Ante chez Mde Denise Fripiere au Phoenix" hemmed with meteorological titles. The upper part features a graduated Réaumur thermometer. The whole is set in a frame decorated with draped scrolls topped by flowering vases and bundles of falling laurels. The frame is embellished with scalloped garlands and features a pair of doves on a nest of laurel leaves. Late 18th century. (a few accidents and missing parts, some gilding, worm holes, dial bezel to be refixed). Height 106.5 cm - Width : 42 cm
