Original Etching by Norbert GOENEUTTE (1854–1894) — “The Gra - Lot 675
Original Etching by Norbert GOENEUTTE (1854–1894) — “The Grand Departure by Horse-Drawn Carriage.” An authentic and rare original etching by Norbert GOENEUTTE, a leading figure in the Parisian Impressionist circle and a close associate of Renoir, Manet, and Degas. Created circa 1880. This magnificent work, titled “The Grand Departure,” depicts an elegant Parisian woman in travel attire standing before a carriage loaded with trunks and luggage. The coachman stands at his post in front of the gates of a property. A particularly lively and anecdotal composition, it beautifully captures the art of travel and the customs of the upper middle class in the late 19th century.
