Rare American Advertising Postcard, 1907—Bickmore Horse Ointment—Franklin Stamp—Destination: Charente. Authentic period document: a rare advertising postcard with dual historical significance, issued by the American firm Bickmore Gall Cure Co. (Old Town, Maine, USA) and mailed to France in 1907 (Belle Époque).This cardboard advertising card from Series No. 2 was used to introduce their famous veterinary product to the French market. On the front (advertisement in French): A two-color graphic (blue and red) depicting Uncle Sam and a galloping horse. A long, highly detailed promotional text aimed at breeders and farmers regarding the use of “Bickmorine” ointment, designed to treat saddle sores and collar sores on draft horses. French addresses listed in Paris (14 Rue Malher) and Aubervilliers. On the back (Mailing Information). Document that has actually been mailed. It is franked with an authentic green one-cent American stamp (One Cent—Benjamin Franklin), with its original postmark. Bears a very legible French arrival postmark in black ink: AIGRE CHARENTE - MAY 21, 1907. The address is handwritten in pen and addressed to Mr. Gaillard in Charente.
