A straight-sided mahogany and mahogany-veneer secretary desk with molded and carved details, the front features a drawer and a dark, green-leather-upholstered flap that opens to reveal two shelves and a niche flanked by six drawers in three rows and accented by two panels in its lower section. The side panels feature fluted moldings with serrated edges. It is topped with a white marble slab and rests on four tapered, fluted legs. Bears a mark by Jean-Martin SCHILER, known as SCHULER (1753–1812), who became a master craftsman in 1781. Louis XVI period.
