Militaria: Correspondence/Censorship/WWI World War I 1914–19 - Lot 98
Militaria: Correspondence/Censorship/WWI World War I 1914–1918 - Rare Set of 4 Documents from the Austro-Hungarian Feldpost - Censorship from Lublin and Feldkirch - An exceptional and highly specialized collection of period documents consisting of four authentic postal items (three correspondence cards and one complete envelope) attesting to imperial and royal (K.u.K.) military postal censorship during the Great War.This cohesive lot illustrates the operation of the Austro-Hungarian field postal service in occupied Polish territory between 1916 and 1917. Three items were sent from the Lublin area to Switzerland (Lausanne), and the fourth was sent from Chęciny to the imperial capital, Vienna (Wien), in Austria. The series features a remarkable variety of original postal marks highly sought after by philatelists: circular date stamps from the Lublin relay offices, linear administrative censorship marks in red and black ink, as well as the official verification stamps from Feldkirch ("Zensuriert K.u.K. Zensurstelle Feldkirch") and Kielce. Each item is carefully preserved on a period collector’s descriptive mount. A certified authentic lot of absolute rarity.
