KLUZIS Gustav Gustavovich (1895-1938)
KLUZIS Gustav Gustavovich (1895-1938) News from all over the world (circa 1922) Gouache, ink and pen on cardboard sheet, signed lower right in Cyrillic, annotated in Russian on the back mentioning the title of the work Bears a stamp on the reverse of the Superior Workshops of Soviet Art and Techniques of Vkhutemas Haut. Size: 22 cm - Width: 32 cm Provenance: Schleininger-Deutch family History: In 1922, Gustav Kluzis realized a series of projects for future in situ "installations" conceived as real multimedia propaganda devices. Loudspeakers, slogans and large screens for projections were designed by Kluzis to be used in the mass celebrations on the occasion of the IV Congress of the Third Communist International, dedicated to the quinquennium of the October 1917 Revolution. These constructivist drawings, which have remained at the project stage, bear witness to the early research and transition of the Soviet avant-garde from the phase of "composition to construction" to the phase of "construction to the utilitarian thing". Our work is a prime example of this.
