About one hundred pewter figurines : Senegalese Tirailleurs - Lot 208
About one hundred pewter figurines : Senegalese Tirailleurs (wear, deformations, accidents, paint jumps) Note: The Senegalese riflemen were a corps of soldiers belonging to the colonial troops formed within the French Colonial Empire in 1857, the main component of the "Black Force "1 or "Black Army" and disbanded in the early 1960s. Although the recruitment of riflemen was not limited to Senegal (the first regiment of African riflemen was formed there in 1857), these infantry units quickly came to designate all black African soldiers who fought under the French flag and who thus differentiated themselves from North African units, such as the Algerian riflemen.
