PARPAN Ferdinand (1902-2004) The cat Bronze... - Lot 151 - Vasari Auction
PARPAN Ferdinand (1902-2004) The cat Bronze with dark brown patina Numbered 8/8 - Monogrammed - Signed F.PARPAN Height : 34 cm 34 cm - Width : 17 cm - Depth : 11 cm Accompanied by a certificate of origin of the artist dated January 16, 1996 and signed. Issued by Makassar France located at the Louvre des Antiquaires in Paris. Note : "Born at the very beginning of the 20th century, the sculptor PARPAN participates in all the movements of this bubbling time. His art asserts itself particularly in a synthetic research of forms between cubism and impressionism which never moves away from figuration. He also expresses his talent in highly stylized animals, sometimes close to those of Pompon, and in the glorification of the female body. Although his sculpture is contemporary, his art evolves out of fashion. His sculptures constitute a tireless repertory of forms, constantly renewed, thanks to which he exploits all the possibilities which are offered to him without limiting himself, and by pursuing rhythms, arabesques, felt impressions. His work is rigorous, thoughtful, patient. He powerfully sculpts life in motion, integrating cubic forms, but adding a certain 'curvature'." César would say of him when he was awarded the European Grand Prize for Sculpture in 1991, "Ferdinand Parpan is a complete and authentic creator of forms who can only honor European sculpture."
