Tabletop stereoscopic terminal in natural wood, it rests on a plinth. The upper part presents glasses and a wheel on one side allowing to make turn the plates, Nineteen poses. Carries a plate marked "Stereoscope Unis France". Height 46,5 cm - Width : 22 cm - Depth : 23 cm We joined an important set of plates showing landscapes, war scenes and various elements of stereoscope. Note : This is a viewer that allows to see images in relief. The important rise of amateur photography at the end of the 19th century contributed to the development of a real industry around stereoscopic cameras. The photographic plate in positive, the basic support of the viewer, is thus two slightly different flat views. The binocular telescope visible in the upper part of the terminal allows to see the image in three dimensions by the superposition of the two views. On the top of the viewer, an opening roof equipped with a mirror has for objective to make penetrate the natural light in the apparatus in order to make possible the vision of the plates. The latter are placed inside the stereoscope in a rack that can be activated by the black button located on the side of the terminal.
