Europe, in the Chie style, late 19th century Large quadrangular box, with black and gold lacquered lid, decorated with a lively landscape of waterside pavilions against a backdrop of high mountains; the sides adorned with decorative motifs in black and gold lacquer, cut out and applied to the red lacquered wickerwork background, with the perimeters highlighted with stylized black and gold grecques.
