Militaria: Correspondence/Trenches/WWI World War I 1914–1918 — Rare Postage-Paid Card from the 20th Army Corps for Libreville, Gabon (AEF) — Dated February 1915. A splendid and highly unusual original postal document of the highest historical, colonial, and commemorative significance. This original postage-free postcard for military correspondence attests to the unique transatlantic postal links between the European trenches and French Equatorial Africa. The item features a superb composition of period postmarks from the year 1915: the original military postmark “Trésor et Postes 149,” the Paris R.P. transit stamp, and the remarkable black circular overseas arrival stamp from Libreville, Gabon, dated April 1915. A genuine historical document of exceptional rarity, adorned with a patriotic illustration engraved by Stern (an allegory of bouquets of Allied flags).
